Degree Plan

To create a custom major through the Individualized Study program at UMBC, I was required to take the Degree Plan writing seminar. This course prepared me to write my degree proposal by creating a description of an integrative degree, my learning objectives and a course list to actualize the degree. Additionally, ideas for capstone research projects and a professional cover letter.

I spent the entire semester editing, re-writing, and collaborating with my peers to make this plan. This is also where I learned important techniques in formal/professional writing that can be applied to project and grant proposals of many types.

This degree proposal would not have been possible without the support of my two academic mentors, Dr. Andrea Kleinsmith and Professor Gary Rozanc who worked closely with me to provide edits and feedback.

At the end of the semester, my proposal was unanimously approved by the Individualized Study Committee (ISC). To read more on the requirements, please visit the INDS webpage.
