MC Hammerhead Shark

"The Kinetic Sculpture Project is an interdisciplinary applied learning experience funded by the Alex Brown Center for Entrepreneurship and UMBC community engagement organization BreakingGround. Created by INDS Assistant Director Steven McAlpine in 2014, students from INDS, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, visual art, geography and environmental systems, and mathematics designed, built and raced the Kraken Upcycle in May 2015. As an INDS 430 course, students study sustainable design methods such as Cradle to Cradle design (McDonough and Braungart 2002) and use recycled materials (plastic bottles and barrels; reclaimed metal and wood) for most of the construction."

Using Agile and Scrum methods of design, we were able to improve the current MC Hammerhead shark design in Spring 2021. We built upon the previous teams in Fall 2019 and 2020 , working alongside the mechanical engineering capstone team.
